Industrial Designer & Visual Artist
"Everything happens in due course, all in good time", is what RV Basco firmly believes in.
Graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Industrial Design in University of Santo Tomas in 1995, this professional Industrial Designer fully pursued his passion in the visual arts around the year 2016.
Many of his early works depicted figuration and social realism. Basco wanted to portray the lives of people dealing with their own struggles. Basco’s interest in portraying the common man started decades ago when he lived in the Malate district of Manila.
As Basco progresses with his promising career in visual art, he continues to explore a style he endearingly calls Fabulism.
In his new series, a dominating subject appears in the image of a boy whose face and body can only be described as melancholic and unstrung. The settings remain what seem like “magic realism,” as Basco integrates myth, allegory, and fable as a means of comprehending the intricacies of life.
